Currently, it has been observed ever more increasing the search for tools that can be used in the recovery of contaminated areas. One such tool is the monitoring of microbial community structure and soil fauna. Therefore, bacteria and fungi forming mycorrhizae (VAM) can contribute to the development of mechanisms for solutions to minimize impacts on many in degraded ecosystems, always seeking to reduce the costs involved. The studied ecosystem presents high levels of heavy metal contamination. For this reason, the research objectives are used to identify the biological and chemical potential that exist in the contaminated ecosystem to serve as the starting point for a proposed recovery strategy. These were: the determination of pseudototais content and speciation of metals; survey of plant species and the levels accumulated in the structures; identify the occurrence of mycorrhizal fungi and morphological diversity; isolation of diazotrophic bacteria tolerant to heavy metals; characterizing the impact of metals on microbial community through soil quality biondicadores, Cmic, breathing, and qCO2 QMIC. Heavy metals were determined by nitropercloric digestion and speciation by sequential extraction. Each point was georeferenced and then we used the inverse distance squared (IQW) integrated into ArcGIS to generate geospatial distribution maps with pseudotatais levels of heavy metals. Species used in lifting up the square method. The AMF density was performed according to Gederman methodology and Nicholson identified and have been using traditional taxonomy. The results were generated maps of spatial distribution of the main heavy metals (Pb, Zn, Co) that are used to monitor the process of accumulation and mobility of the soil. The species of highest abundance in the area remain Cynodon nlemfuensis and Cyperus gigantus, and are able to accumulate high levels of heavy metals. By the growth of Brachiaria decumbens in a microcosm system was isolated 66 pure colonies, of which 78.78 % formed features films diazotrophic and of these 25 strains resulted promising for further studies to present the greatest results of ARA, totaling 37.87 % of the total. From the study of contamination in the microbial community, through the analysis of the biomarkers was determined that contaminants have a negative impact on the microbial community, with losses of soil organic carbon. Moreover, the diversity of AMF were most abundant: Paraglomus ocultum > Glomus sp > Glomus sp3 > Glomus intrarradices > Diversispora spurca. The existence of various kinds of AMF and dizotrophic bacteria that are an important functional component of the soil-plant systems in this degraded ecosystem; are key to sustainable productivity, and a resource with potential to be further developed in future studies, may be used together with grasses in recovery strategies.en
