| dc.description.abstract | Estudos experimentais foram feitos em bovinos, ovinos, caprinos, suínos e eqüino com Trypanossoma (Duttonela) vivax Ziemann, 1905, obtido de uma amostra de sangue de um búfalo (Bubalus bubalis) naturalmente infectado, proveniente do Território Federal do Amapá. Observou-se a patogenicidade da cepa através do quadro clínico e da patologia. Os exames de esfregaços sanguíneos diários revelaram parasitemia flutuante na maioria dos animais inoculados, especialmente ruminantes. O quadro clínico mais freqüente constou de piques febris intermitentes, lacrimejamento, corrimento nasal, anemia, edemas, emagrecimento progressivo e caquexia. Formas arredondadas, provavelmente núcleos e cinetoplastos de tripanossomos degenerados foram encontrados em órgãos como fígado e fim, o que pode possibilitar o diagnóstico post-mortem. As alterações patológicas mais evidentes foram os 62 edemas generalizados acompanhados de completa caquexia. Tentativas de transmissão experimental através de Stomoxys calcitrans, criadas em laboratório, foram negativas. | por |

| dc.description.abstractOther | Experimental studies were carried out in cattle, sheep, goats and a horse with Trypanosoma (Dutonella) vivax Ziemann, 1905, obtained in a blood sample from a buffalo (Bubalis bubalis L.) naturally infected and reared in the Amapa Territory, Brazil. The patogenicity of this strain was studied by way of the clinical picture and pathology. Daily blood-smears, revealed varying parasitaemia in the majority os animals inoculated, and especially in the ruminants. The clinical picture most frequently observed included: intermittent febrile peaks, lacrimation, nasal discharge, anaemia, oedemas, progressive emaciation and cachexia. Circular structures (probably nuclei and kinetoplasts of degenerated trypanosomas) were encountered in organs such as liver and kidney; this could be of help in post-mortem diagnosis. The most obvious pathological changes observed were 64 generalized edemas, accompanied by complete cachexia. Experimental transmission by means of laboratory reared Stomoxys calcitrans was unsuccesful. | eng |
