Other | The development of Boophilus microplus, Babesia bigemina and Babesia bovis was studied in experimental conditions in cattle raized in tick free area. The evolution of these blood parasites was followed in the tick vector, starting by the presence of infected erythrocytes in the intestinal lumen of engorged females, 24 hours after the ticks had dropped from the cattle host up to the detection of sporozoits in hatched larvae. During the period of 24 to 48 hours after engorged ticks dropped from the host it was observed the presence of infected erythrocytes as well as the presence of rayed bodies "Strahlenkorper" and vermiform bodies which looklike ookinete, result of gametogony. Ookineto were found in the cytoplasm of epithelial cells 72 hours after ticks hod neopped, as well as large number of immature sporozoites. During the some period of time the presence of immature and mature sporozoites of B. bigemina and B. bovis were found in hemolymph and in hemocytes. The presence of xxii. sporozoites in samples of malpighi tubes and ovaries were noticed at day 4. Eggs examined in the fourth and fifth day after engorged ticks had dropped were found to be positives for the presence of both species of Babesia. The ideal period for the diagnostic of B. bigemina and B. bovis in the hemolymph and in eggs of ticks was found to be at the 8th and 13th day after females dropped from the host, respectively. The examination of 100 engorged females of B. microplus from cattle which had a parasitemia of 1.5% for B. bigemina and 0.4% for B. bovis were found an infection rate of 96%. A second sample of females which dropped from cattle with a parasitemia of 1.8% for B. bigemina and 0.7% for B. bovis, had and infection rate of 88%. The evolution of B. bigemina and B. bovis in the invertebrate host affect the survival of engorged females. The mortality rate of engorged females observed seven and twelve days after dropping from the host fot the first and second groups were 94.79% and 75.0%, respectively. | eng |
