Experiments were conducted in 1988 to determine the susceptibility of Stomoxys calcitrans larvas and adults to various insecticides at the Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro and one colony was established for F6 generations for topical application tests and larvicidal activity. Studies with several insecticides topically applied on males and females of S.calcitrans showed the following toxicities in descending order : permethrin, dichlorvos, decamethrin, coumaphos, ronnel, fanphur, cruphomate and trichlorphon. Studies with various insecticides added to the larval diets showed in descending order the following toxicities: dichlorvos, decamethrin, permethrin, ronnel, coumaphos, fanphur, trichlorphon and cruphomate. The efficacy of the insecticides against adults and larval of S.calcitrans were analyzed by the log-probit method-por
