dc.description.abstractImagem corporal é um conceito que tem ganhado representatividade nas últimas décadas. Para tanto, muitos pesquisadores têm empreendido esforços em estudá-la. Nesse sentido, estudiosos têm trabalhado no desenvolvimento, validação e/ou adaptação transcultural de instrumentos para sua avaliação nas mais diversas populações, dentre elas, pessoas com deficiência visual. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi realizar a adaptação transcultural e conferir a confiabilidade das escalas Social Physique Anxiety Scale (SPAS), Functionality Appreciation Scale (FAS) e Self-Acceptance Scale – Early Blindness (SAS-EB) para a população de adolescentes com deficiência visual no Brasil. Para o processo de adaptação transcultural, as escalas passaram pelas etapas preconizadas por Beaton et al. (2002) que consideram tradução, reunião de síntese, retrotradução, comitê de peritos e pré-teste. As escalas foram avaliadas por diferentes peritos, a saber: peritos da imagem corporal, educação especial, metodologista, psicóloga, linguista e representante da população-alvo. Já para o pré-teste, no qual foram avaliadas a validade de conteúdo e a confiabilidade dos instrumentos, a população-alvo foi de 25 adolescentes com deficiência visual, de ambos os sexos, com idades entre 10 e 19 anos (média 17.08, DP = 1,97), incluindo baixa visão e cegueira. Os participantes foram oriundos de escolas e instituições no Brasil, tais como o Instituto Benjamin Constant, o Centro Educacional Municipal de Atendimento a Deficientes Visuais de Resende, ambos no Rio de Janeiro, o Instituto Paranaense de Cegos, no Paraná, além de Grupos do Facebook e da indicação dos próprios participantes. A medida de confiabilidade foi feita por meio da consistência interna, aferida com o alfa de Cronbach. Toda a coleta de dados foi on-line devido à pandemia da Covid-19 que tem como principal medida de contenção do vírus o isolamento social. As escalas unifatoriais SPAS e FAS apresentaram evidências de validade de conteúdo e confiabilidade (ambas com alpha de 0,74). A SAS também apresentou evidências de validade de conteúdo. Contudo, no cálculo da confiabilidade, um de seus fatores, nomeado Proteção contra estigmas, apresentou valor de referência abaixo do ponto de corte (α = 0,52). Já os outros dois fatores apresentaram valores satisfatórios (fator Aceitação corporal - α =0,75; Sentimentos e crenças de capacidades - α =0,83). Esta pesquisa apresenta as versões adaptadas de três importantes instrumentos de avaliação da imagem corporal para adolescentes brasileiros com deficiência visual. A confiabilidade dos instrumentos se mostrou adequada, especialmente da SPAS e FAS. Esses instrumentos podem ser muito úteis para acompanhar estratégias pedagógicas com enfoque na imagem corporal de adolescentes com deficiência visual em escolas de todo o Brasil. Todavia, estudos futuros devem explorar a estrutura fatorial e a validade de constructo dos instrumentos adaptados.por

dc.description.abstractOtherBody image is a concept that has gained representation in recent decades. Therefore, many researchers have made efforts to study it. In this sense, scholars have been working on the development, validation and/or cross-cultural adaptation of instruments for their evaluation in the most diverse populations, amongst them, people with visual impairment. The objective of this research was to carry out the cross-cultural adaptation and check the reliability of the Social Physical Anxiety Scale (SPAS), Functionality Assessment Scale (FAS) and Self-Acceptance Scale - Early Blindness (SAS-EB) for a population of adolescents with visual impairment in Brazil. For the cross-cultural adaptation process, the scales went through the steps recommended by Beaton et al. (2002) which considers translation, synthesis meeting, back-translation, expert committee and pre-test. Different experts evaluated the scales, namely: body image, special education, methodologist, psychologist, linguist experts and member of the target population. As for the pre-test, in which the content validity and reliability of the instruments were evaluated, the target population was 25 adolescents with visual impairment, of both genders, aged between 10 and 19 years (mean 17.08, SD = 1.97), including low vision and blindness. Participants came from schools and institutions in Brazil, such as Instituto Benjamin Constant, Municipal Educational Center for the Visually Impaired of Resende, both in Rio de Janeiro, Instituto Paranaense de Cegos, no Paraná, Facebook Groups and indication of the participants themselves. The reliability measure was made through internal consistency, measured with Cronbach's alpha. All data collection was online because of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has social isolation as the main measure to contain the virus. The SPAS and FAS unifactorial scales showed evidence of content validity and reliability (both with an alpha of 0.74). SAS also provided evidence of content validity. However, in the reliability calculation, one of its factors, named Protection against stigmas, presented a reference value below the cutoff point (α = 0.52). The other two factors presented satisfactory values (Body acceptance factor - α = 0.75; Feelings and beliefs of abilities - α = 0.83). This research presents adapted versions of three important body image assessment instruments for Brazilian adolescents with visual impairment. The reliability of the instruments proved to be adequate, especially for the SPAS and FAS. These instruments can be very useful to monitor pedagogical strategies focused on the body image of adolescents with visual impairment in schools throughout Brazil. However, future studies should explore the factor structure and construct validity of the adapted instruments.eng
