dc.description.abstractO colapso traqueal trata-se de um processo crônico de enfraquecimento dos anéis traqueais e flacidez da membrana dorsal, resultando em um estreitamento do lúmen da traqueia. É uma afecção de etiologia pouco esclarecida e de ocorrência comum em cães de meia idade a idosos e de pequeno porte. Os sinais clínicos normalmente estão associados a tosse seca e não produtiva, e o diagnóstico é dado pela associação da sintomatologia clínica e exames de imagem. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo estudar o colapso de traqueia em 20 animais com suspeita clínica de colapso de traqueia por meio do histórico, anamnese e exame físico com ênfase nas alterações morfológicas avaliadas através do exame radiográfico cervical e torácico (em diferentes projeções), exame ultrassonográfico cervical e traqueoscopia. Foi estabelecida a prevalência do colapso de traqueia e determinados os achados clínicos mais frequentes na doença. Também foi estabelecida a acurácia dos achados clínicos na formulação da suspeita clínica da doença, bem como a acurácia da radiografia cervical e torácica e da ultrassonografia no diagnóstico definitivo usando a traqueoscopia como “padrão ouro” para o diagnóstico do colapso traqueal. A traqueoscopia identificou os segmentos afetados da traqueia caracterizando os diferentes graus do colapso e a gravidade da afecção por meio de seus aspectos anatômicos e imagiológicos. O exame ultrassonográfico não foi diagnóstico neste estudo. As imagens radiográficas, em projeções convencionais nas diferentes fases do ciclo respiratório, melhoraram a precisão do exame para o diagnóstico da doença, enquanto a avaliação das incidências radiográficas não convencionais foi mais sensível nas regiões de comprometimento cervical e cervicotorácico.por

dc.description.abstractOtherTracheal collapse is a weakening chronic process of the tracheal rings and the sagging of dorsal membrane, resulting in a narrowing of the lumen of the trachea. It is a condition of unclear etiology and common occurrence in middle aged to elderly dogs and small dogs. Clinical signs are usually associated with dry and non-productive cough, and the diagnosis is given by the association of clinical symptoms and imaging tests. The present work aimed to study the collapse of trachea in 20 animals with clinical suspicion of tracheal collapse by historical, anamnesis and physical examination with emphasis on morphological alterations evaluated by cervical and thoracic radiographic examination (in different projections), cervical ultrasound examination and tracheoscopy. The prevalence of tracheal collapse was established and the most frequent clinical findings in the disease were determined. The accuracy of the clinical findings in the formulation of the clinical suspicion of the disease, as well as the accuracy of the cervical and thoracic radiographs and the accuracy of the ultrasound in the definitive diagnosis were also established using tracheoscopy as the "gold standard" for the diagnosis of tracheal collapse. Tracheoscopy identified the affected segments of the trachea characterizing the different degrees of collapse and the severity of the condition, through its anatomical aspects and imaging tests. The ultrasound examination was not diagnostic in this study. The radiographic images, in conventional projections and different phases of the respiratory cycle, improved the precision of the examination for the diagnosis of the disease, while the evaluation of the non conventional radiographic incidences was more sensitive in the regions of cervical and cervicothoracic involvementeng
