| pt_BR |

Other | This dissertation analyzes how the politicization of food, within the context of food activism, translates into changes in domestic cooking practices. In response to the discourse that "cooking is a political act," promoted by activists with the intention of politicizing food practices, and specifically cooking, the research discusses how the process of politicization generates transformations around this practice, as well as the limitations and ambiguities of this process. To do so, literature on political consumption, food activism, and practice theory was mobilized. By considering cooking as a social practice, the research aims to: (a) identify which strategies of political consumption are mobilized by food activists within the practice-arrangements bundles of cooking; (b) investigate how the elements that constitute the practice of cooking and the relationships between them have been affected by the processes of politicization; (c) understand in what ways food activists contribute to and relate to conventions of normality surrounding "appropriate" politicized cooking, and (d) map possible changes in the temporality of cooking that emerge from this process. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, a systematic literature review and an exploratory and qualitative fieldwork were conducted, using semi-structured interviews, participant observation, and questionnaires, in which the domestic cooking of food activists was the sociological object. Individuals who identified themselves as food activists, who vocalized discourses of cooking politicization, and who were the primary meal preparers in their households were selected as informants. The results indicate modifications in the elements that constitute the practice-arrangements bundles around domestic cooking, such as rules, understandings, teleoaffective structure, and material arrangements. A typology of four variations of politicized cooking was proposed, namely: (i) to promote cooking; (ii) to promote veganism; (iii) to prioritize ingredient sourcing; and (iv) to reduce waste. This typology was developed through a praxeological analysis, in which the social practice is interpreted as an emergent property, not as an individual attribute, but a form of social engagement. Other dimensions were also analyzed, such as forms of political consumption, indicators of normativity construction around politicized cooking and the temporality of food practices of activists. | en |
