Through the informations of census stay clear the growing of the population of Nova Iguaçu and that soil destined to orange farming were target of intense speculation in this 20 years. Inside this process, our object are the strategies used by a group of social actors -- the local elite linked to citrus farming -- to the construction and organizetion of their new economics interests. We use sources of National Archive, as report of Ministry of Agriculture, maps of farms and roads; Agricultural Census from 1920 and 1940; information about the production of orange, colonization of land; deeds and leases; and information provided by the newspaper of local elite: the newspaper "Correio da Lavoura". Is too important highlight that this study are in development and the results here are still in construction and there is, all the time, a hard try to make clear a bibliographic summary.
