| dc.description.abstract | Em oftalmologia, exames ultrassonográficos são cada vez mais freqüentes, principalmente quando os meios transparentes do olho se mostram opacos, como em determinados estágios da catarata. Pela relevância da catarata na rotina clínica de animais de companhia, especialmente cães, objetivou-se realizar estudo retrospectivo dos atendimentos oftalmológicos visando identificar as principais alterações oculares em associação à catarata no Hospital Veterinário, Setor de Pequenos Animais da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro e em duas clínicas particulares nos municípios de Resende e na zona sul da cidade do Rio de Janeiro, num período de dois anos (2009/2011), com ênfase nos laudos ultrassonográficos de cães com catarata. Foram avaliados através de ultrassonografia (modo B) 90 cães e 180 olhos, sendo 164 olhos com catarata. Como alterações concomitantes a catarata foram detectadas: aumento de celularidade em câmara vítrea (84/154), luxação de cristalino (2/154), neoplasia (2/154), diminuição de tamanho e/ou diâmetro do cristalino (24/154), descolamento de retina (8/154), eixo axial aumentado (5/154) e cristais (2/154). Na comparação entre os olhos direitos e esquerdos não se verificou diferença significativa quanto aos parâmetros analisados. A alta prevalência de alterações oculares concomitantes à catarata demonstra a importância da ultrassonografia ocular como exame pré–operatório à facectomia. | por |

| dc.description.abstractOther | In ophthalmology, ultrasound exams are increasingly frequent, especially when the transparent media of the eye are shown opaque, as in certain stages of cataracts. The relevance of the cataract in the clinical routine of pets, especially dogs, aimed to perform a retrospective study of eye care to identify the main ocular cataracts in association with the Veterinary Hospital, Small Animal Industry of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro and two private clinics in the municipalities of Resende and in the southern city of Rio de Janeiro, in a period of two years (2009/2011), with emphasis on sonographic reports of dogs with cataracts. Were evaluated by ultrasound (B-mode) 90 dogs and 180 eyes, 164 eyes with cataract. As concomitant changes cataracts were detected: increased cellularity in the vitreous chamber (84/154), dislocation of crystalline (2/154), neoplasia (2/154), decrease size and / or diameter of the lens (24/154), retinal detachment (8/154), axial length increased (5/154) and crystals (2/154). Comparing the right and left eyes there was no significant difference regarding the parameters analyzed. The high prevalence of ocular alterations concomitant cataract demonstrates the importance of ocular ultrasound examination as preoperative cataract surgery. | eng |
