Governments, companies and researchers are developing Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) to improve all processes of production, management, dissemination and use of geographic data. The Universities are beginning to follow this method, there are efforts to develop Academic SDI, which can be expanded and adapted for multiple purposes. Voluntary Geographic Information (VGI) revolutionized the process of creating geographic data, increased the volume of digital data and facilitated the discovery of new information, but there are still several challenges to define or improve the VGI quality. There are researches that aim to build an SDI with support for VGI data. In this work, the computational part of the Academic SDI IDE-UFRRJ was developed. The main system developed was the Geopost, which is a VGI system integrated with the Geonetwork, Geoserver and social network Facebook. The IDE-UFRRJ supports official and voluntary data. All IDE-UFRRJ data are documented with metadata using the MGB profile and/or with dynamic metadata using the DM4VGI. Voluntary data in addition to text attributes can have points, lines and/or polygons as geometry, as well as extra digital media such as photos, files and url links. In this VGI system, there is also support for direct collection of voluntary data in the GeoJSON and KML format. The software Geopost has a recommendation system based on the user’s profile and behavior, as well as tools for data analysis. All systems are working online and any citizen can contribute or access public data. Various VGI data were collected, evaluated and disseminated to various citizens. Thus, aiming at a better integration between the University and the citizen, besides helping in the perpetuation and dissemination of the knowledge generated in a University. The entire methodology used for the computational scope of IDE-UFRRJ can be reused for the construction of other academic IDEs.pt_BR
