Compatibilism emerges as a response to the apparent conflict between freedom and the notion of determinism, called the problem of free will, i.e., it is questioned whether freedom and the moral practices associated with it depend or not on the absence of causally determining factors for justified. The traditional compatibilist approach to the problem of free will defends the possibility of making the justification of notions and judgments of moral responsibility compatible with the truth of the determinism thesis. Or, at least, with the non-requirement of the falsity of that last thesis. P.F. Strawson brings a contribution to the debate by shifting the discussion about free will to the field of natural human attitudes and feelings. Its central thesis is that these attitudes and feelings are a natural fact inescapable to human relations and, therefore, unshakable by determinism. Its position depends not only on the defense of compatibilism, but on the defense of naturalism. In order to understand the effectiveness of Strawson's response, we first reconstruct his position. Second, we reconstruct David Pear's criticism, focused on his compatibilism, and the answer given by Strawson to the critic. Third, we present and analyze Paul Russell's objections to Strawsonian naturalism. Finally, we make some considerations that conclude that the criticisms do not frustrate Strawson's naturalist compatibilist response to the freedom required in justifying the notion of moral responsibility.en
