Industries producing fertilizers and biological pesticides generate effluents with significant potential to pollute water resources, necessitating the treatment of these materials. Consequently, biological treatment using microalgae offers a novel alternative for the bioremediation of this wastewater, while also providing the potential to obtain bio-inputs—such as biostimulants—at the end of the process. This study evaluated the performance of microalgal biostimulants—produced in wastewater from biopesticide and biofertilizer manufacturing (ARBB)—on the germination and early development of maize seedlings (cv. AG1051). Pollutant concentrations, including Total Nitrogen (TN), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), and Phosphorus (P), were quantified in the effluent used as the culture medium for producing the biostimulants. Following cultivation, three biostimulant-containing solutions were prepared: S1 (ARBB + microalgae); S2 (ARBB + microalgae solution concentrated by removing 50% of the liquid phase using ferric chloride); and S3 (containing only the liquid phase removed from S2). Phytohormone levels were quantified in all three solutions. Germination tests were conducted in a BOD incubator over a 7-day period, comparing treatments S1, S2, and S3 against gibberellic acid and a control (distilled water). A completely randomized design was employed with five replicates of 80 seeds each, totaling 2,000 tested seeds. The parameters analyzed included germination percentage, germination speed index, seedling height, root length, and the fresh and dry mass of both roots and shoots. High pollutant removal efficiency from the raw effluent was observed following microalgae treatment, achieving removal rates of 79.75%, 98.29%, and 99.18% for P, TN, and COD, respectively. Phytohormones belonging to the gibberellin, cytokinin, auxin, and abscisic acid classes were detected in biostimulants S1 and S2. Germination test results indicated no interference with either the germination rate or the germination percentage across the analyzed treatments, as there was no statistical difference between the control treatment and the treatments involving microalgae and gibberellic acid. Gibberellic acid yielded the best results regarding seedling height, differing statistically from the others (10.10 cm), followed by the biostimulants, which reached lengths of up to 8.85 cm and were statistically superior to the control. Regarding shoot fresh and dry mass, the 25 highest values were found in the treatments with gibberellic acid (3.35 g fresh mass and 0.30 g dry mass) and with biostimulant S1 (3.27 g fresh mass and 0.28 g dry mass); these performed similarly to each other and differed statistically from the others. Therefore, it is concluded that the microalgae treatment was efficient for pollutant removal from ARBB. It is also observed that the use of treated ARBB can benefit maize seedlings, promoting shoot growth and, consequently, increasing plant fresh and dry mass.en
