Mycelial biomaterials have emerged as a sustainable alternative to replace synthetic polymers and conventional composites due to their biodegradability, low production cost, and morphological adaptability. In this dissertation, biomaterials obtained from the controlled growth of the fungi Ganoderma lucidum and Pleurotus ostreatus on lignocellulosic substrates were developed and characterized, with emphasis on evaluating their mechanical properties through Texture Profile Analysis (TPA) tests. The results demonstrated the differences between the species. The biomaterial produced by G. lucidum showed greater mechanical uniformity, with low variability between samples, revealing rigid and brittle behavior, with reduced recovery capacity after deformation. In contrast, P. ostreatus exhibited greater maximum point strength and greater energy dissipation capacity, although with greater structural variation, indicating a more flexible and partially resilient mycelial matrix. These differences result from the intrinsic hyphal organization of each species, directly influencing the density, porosity, and mechanical properties of the final composite. The results reinforce the potential of mycelial biomaterials as ecological substitutes in structural and packaging applications, highlighting the importance of choosing the fungal species to modulate the physical and functional performance of the final material.en
